Sachin to share ‘Golden’ memories with Pappu

PURE GOLD. Prominent cricket writer Dwarkanath Sanzgiri will be honouring Sachin Tendulkar and celebrating the 50th golden jubilee of India’s legendary cricketer, who celebrated his 50th birthday on April 24.

For those in the know, especially those familiar with the well-known brand of Marathi cricket, so to say, Dwarkanath Sanzgiri, affectionately called ‘Pappu’ is a well-known cricket scribe. His book on Sachin Tendulkar ‘Shatkant Ekach’ in Marathi and Adaptation in English titled, ‘Scintilating Sachin’, story beyond the stats. The books are being published by Granthali Publications.

More significantly, a glittering ceremony celebrating the Golden Boy of Indian cricket, Sachin Tendulkar will be held at Shanmukhananda Hall, Sion on June 2 from 6.30 pm. The event is being supported by Ageas Federal Life Insurance, organized by Universal Sports & Cultural Foundation and managed by Tradition Trendz.

The who’s who of Indian cricket will be in attendance in this detailed event. Not just cricketers, celebrities including film personalities and their like will provide illustrations of their interaction with Sachin, in the course of the event.

Besides Test cricketers, Dilip Vengsarkar, Anshuman Gaekwad, Kiran More, Praveen Amre and Zaheer Khan, well-known Adman Pralhad Kakkar, famed singer Shaan, Dr Anant Joshi, Marathi stage actor Prashant Damle, Sumit Raghavan, Vikram Sathe, Hrishikesh Joshi and well-known sports anchor, Harsha Bhogle will also provide vital inputs in the well-planned and detailed programme.

Interspersed among all these programmes will be clips featuring Saurav Ganguly, Asha Bhosle and India’s former heartthrob, Madhuri Dixit and well-known cricketers like Kapil Dev, V.V.S. Laxman, Anil Kumble and some others.

The first part of the programme will feature Dilip Vengsarkar, Pravin Amre, Kiran More and Zaheer Khan being interviewed by Harsha Bhogle.

The second session will feature Anshuman Gaekwad providing his personal views on the five best innings by Sachin, which have been witnessed in person.

In the third session, non-cricketing personalities will provide their views with candour, on how they view Sachin. Adman Pralhad Kakkar, theatre star Prashant Damle, Dr Anant Joshi who has operated on Sachin’s hands, and singer Shaan will be interviewed by Vikram Sathe in this regard. This will be followed by a tiny skit laden with humour by Sathe.

The fourth part will feature the book launch which will be done by Ajit Tendulkar, Sachin’s elder brother. The evening will culminate with an interview by Pappu about his long-standing association with Sachin Tendulkar.
