Promising names Srujan, Chinmay, Kunal & Shams create a record together in the Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament ‘18

Played between Ramnarayan Jhunjhunwala College and AI KTC, it was the all important pre-quarter finals of the event at the United Cricket Club where in AIKTC won the toss and elected to bowl first with an aim of restricting the opposition to a low total.

However, AIKTC boys were least aware that these boys from Jhunjunwala college has names in the playing XI who have been performing really well and are professional level cricketers performing in MCA Tournaments like Purshottam & Times Shield amongst others. Opening the innings, attacking opener Srujan Athawale demolished the bowlers hitting 134 off mere 86deliveries which included 13fours while also indulging in great running between the wickets. Srujan kept the bowlers on toes always rotating the strike while hitting fours whenever he found a loose ball. At no.4 came Chinmay Sutar who has also been in great form with the bat too. Chinmay continued the positive momentum smashing a quickfire 84 while also stitched a crucial stand with all-rounder Kunal Chalke who smashed 80 off mere deliveries (10fours, 4sixes) to continue the onslaught and further demolish the opposition bowlers with authority. That was not all as the hitting was still as experienced Shams Maulani at no.6 faced 10delivers, smashed 5 sixes and scored 38* to seal their innings in style where they notched up a mammoth 490/6 in 40 overs making it the 2nd highest team total of the tournament.

Chasing 491 is a gigantic task and AIKTC must have felt the pressure against such a quality side consisting of professional level players. Eventually, Jhunjhunwala boys bundled out AIKTC for just 96runs all out where in all the bowlers did an excellent job with Parikhshit Valsangkar being the pick of the bowlers scalping 3wkts. R.Jhunjunwala college won the match by a record margin of 394runs where in all the boys did a collective team effort to advance ahead in the tournament.
