Prayag Bhati’s 72* powers GST & Customs Pune to clinch the SPJ Corporate Championship’22

On May 1, GST & Customs Pune locked horns against Venkys (KPL) in the finals of SPJ Corporate Championship in Pune. Venkys won the toss and elected to bat.

Riding on Sujit Ubale’s delectable half-century, Venkys posted a fighting score of 5-173 in 20 overs. Ubale smashed eight boundaries and two sixes during his knock of 73 from 50 balls. On the other hand, for GST & Customs Pune, Kamal Passi was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3-42 in four overs.

In reply, GST & Customs Pune completed the formalities in 18.3 overs with nine balls and six wickets to spare. Prayag Bhati led the run chase from the front with a masterclass 72 off 44 balls. Bhati hammered seven boundaries and three sixes in his unbeaten innings. On the other hand, Venkys had an ordinary outing with the ball. Anand Thenge, Sujit Ubale and Deepak Dangi accounted for one wicket each.

Cricket is a sport that Juili picked up right from her childhood days. Her journey from playing with the boys in the compound walls to practising under the able aegis of Jonty Rhodes has been a spectacular one.
She was a part of Mumbai Women’s U-19 and U-23 probables during her four-year stint at the MCA. As a middle order bat and a part time medium pace bowler, she also represented Mumbai University at All-India University Women’s Cricket for two years.

In the quest of further education, she discontinued with the sport. Currently she is pursuing her Ph.D in Finance from IIT Bombay’s School of Management.
