Mumbai beat vidarbha by 75 runs to win the u25 Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy’22

Mumbai and Vidarbha locked horns against each other in the finals of U25 Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy at Motera. The match was played between April 24 and April 27. Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first.

1st innings

Batting first, Mumbai posted a daunting score of 468 in 156.2 overs, thanks to Bhupen Lalwani, Armaan Jaffer, Suved Parkar and Omkar Jadhav. Lalwani, Jaffer, Parkar and Jadhav plundered half-centuries to power Mumbai to a commanding position. Jadhav top scored with 89 runs off 102 balls, followed by Lalwani, who mustered 88 runs off 200 balls. Jaffer and Parkar chipped in with scores of 85 and 72 respectively. On the other hand, Harsh Dubey was the pick of the bowlers for Vidarbha. Dubey scalped 4-177 in 45 overs.

2nd innings

In reply, Vidarbha fought hard as they scored 385 in 102.2 overs, trailing by 83 runs. Mandar Mahale top scored with 81 runs off 85 balls. Yash Kadam, MR Kale and SK Wath were the other major contributors with the bat for Vidarbha as the trio registered half-centuries. For Mumbai, left arm spinner Shams Mulani starred with the ball as he claimed 4-113 in 31.2 overs.

3rd innings

Taking a lead of 83 runs, Mumbai added 113 runs in 53.1 overs. After a scintillating batting performance in the first innings, Mumbai underwent a batting collapse in their second innings. Khizar Dafedar top scored with 29 runs off 41 balls. On the other hand, it was Dubey again with the ball for Vidarbha as he wreaked havoc picking up 7-55 in 27 overs. 

4th innings

Chasing 197 runs for a win, Vidarbha were bowled out for 121 in 29.2 overs as they lost the match by 75 runs. Kadam was the lone warrior in the fight as he scored 49 runs off 65 balls. On the other hand, for Mumbai, it was again Mulani who rattled the opposition with 7-50 in 14.2 overs. The left arm spinner bagged 11 wickets in the match and played an integral role in Mumbai’s win.
