Sarfaraz’s 29ball 76 & Sandesh Koli’s 7/25 turns out to be the most impressive in a match dominated by the bowlers in the Kanga League 2017
Played at the LIC Ground, Cross Maidan in Mumbai, it was a match between Young Mohmendan CC and Amar CC where in Young Mohmedan CC won the toss and elected to bat first considering that the wicket must have improved since the rains are over.
However, their decision did not turn out to be the most accurate as it gave a lot of support to the bowlers. Young Mohmeddan CC were all out for just 135 in 34.4 overs where in Sarfaraz Khan and Arsalan Shaikh were the top scorers chipping in with 30’s. Slow left arm spinner Shubham Pandey was really impressive as he was the pick of the bowlers taking 5/33 in 7.4 overs. However, Young Mohmedan bowlers gave a fitting reply with the ball as they bundled out Amar CC boys for just 78/10 in 17 overs. Off-spinner Arsalan Shaikh who was the highest scorer with the bat was also the pick of the bowler as he took 5/26 in 7 overs.
Young Mohmedan boys batted strongly in the 2nd innings to declare at 127/4 in mere 9.2 overs. Aggressive opener Sarfaraz Khan who is known for his batting histrionics shocked the bowlers with a brutal 76 off mere 29balls (6fours and 7sixes). Sarfaraz was hitting the ball as if he was doing some batting practice as he literally toyed with the bowlers to give them a hard time. When we asked Naushad Khan(his team mate as well as his father) on what made him to suddenly counter attack the bowlers, Naushad khan said ‘ we wanted to win the match outright and for that we had to give atleast 20overs to our bowlers in the 2nd innings to restrict the Amar CC batsman again, hence in less time we had to score more and so we requested Sarfaraz to open and start hitting, luckily things worked out and he attacked the bowlers scoring 76 in no time, plus winning the match outright would give us 2points extra” In reply, Amar CC were again all out for just 83runs and right arm leg spinner Sandesh Koli came up with the best bowling figures in the match as he ran through the entire batting line up of Amar CC taking 7/25 in 7.1 overs. Sandesh bowled really tight and kept on troubling the batsman with his consistent good line and length. Young Mohmedans won the match outright and it was certainly Arsalan, Sarfaraz and Sandesh who were simply impressive with their performances. Cricketgraph congratulates the winning team while wishes luck to both the teams for a great season ahead.
