Omeir Babi’s 88 goes in vain as Somaiya Sports Academy lose in MCA Corporate Trophy ’22

On March 22, Somaiya Sports Academy locked horns against Mumbai Fire Brigade during the MCA Corporate Trophy tournament. Somaiya Sports Academy won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first, Somaiya Sports Academy posted 149 in 34.2 overs against Mumbai Fire Brigade. For Somaiya Sports Academy, Omair Babi top scored with a delectable 88 but failed to find able allies. Babi was the lone warrior in the fight. On the other hand, Mumbai Fire Brigade had a good day with the ball, thanks to Kiran Davane, who struck with 3-40. Davane claimed a hat-trick as he scalped all the three wickets in consecutive balls.

In reply, Mumbai Fire Brigade completed the formalities in just 21.3 overs as they cruised to a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Somaiya Sports Academy. Yash Samgiskar (55 not out) and Milind Aarekar (51 not out) were the twin half-centurions for Mumbai Fire Brigade as they made lightwork of the chase. Just like with the bat, Somaiya Sports Academy did not have a great outing with the ball as their bowling attack looked listless.

Despite Omeir Babi’s 88, Somaiya Sports Academy ended on a losing side as Mumbai Fire Brigade beat them by seven wickets during the MCA Corporate Trophy.
