Manohar Sawant Trophy updates: Vedprakash Jaiswal, Karan Shah and Sanket Kashte smash impressive fifties

 

U19 Manohar Sawant Tournament has been another good platform provided by MCA to the aspiring young cricketers to showcase their talent and skills and perform at their best. So far the tournament has been quite a success and here are some of the latest updates.

In the match between DY Patil and Sonale Bhiwandi at the MB Union Cross Maidan on 24th May, DY Patil were made to bat first after winning the toss but they batted well declaring their innings at 274/7. Vedprakash Jaiswal who came at no.3 played a fruitful knock of 83* off mere 119balls (6fours) anchoring his teams innings. The prolific run scorer seemed to have got back to form as he looked really composed and solid which pushed his team towards a good total. DY Patil successfully defended the total with Sonale Bhiwandi team all out for mere 80runs. DY Patil won the match by 167runs and Ved’s innings was definitely the highlight perfomance of the match.

Sanket Kashte

In the match played between Dilip Vengsarkar Team Mahul and MIG at the Youth’s own Union Cross Maidan on 29th May, Vengsarkar team who have been batting really well so far collapsed this time getting all out for just 135runs in 37.4 overs. Chasing 136, MIG did lose some early wickets but Sanket Kashte scored a solid 62 off 95balls alongwith Aditya Srivastav’s 37*. It was on the back of his solid batting, MIG team won the match by 6wkts in 29.4 overs.

In the match between Chimaji Appa Vasai and Payyade SC at Karnatak Sporting Assn, Cross Maidan on same day, Chimaji Appa team batting first were all out for 182runs with Prashant Pillai who has been a consistent scorer again impressive with a sublime 64 while Atharva Poojari being the pick of the bowlers with 4wkts. Chasing 183, Chimaji Appa gave a tough fight and did not allow them to win easily.  However, left handed Karan Shah did gave a jolt and looked good to finish the game single handedly before he was out on 57 off 36balls laced with 6fours and 3sixes coming at no.4. Eventually, Payyade SC won the match by 1wkt and that quick fifty did played a big role in the win.
