Manish Rao pockets 2 IPL Players as Parsee Gymkhana win Talim Shield Finals’21
The very fact that you are in the playing XI of a Top Division tournament of Mumbai Cricket is no less than an achievement and then soaking all the pressure, enjoying the moment and even coming up with some memorable performances makes it all the more special. One such player who made it memorable for himself was Manish Rao from Parsee Gymkhana who took crucial wickets of Sarfaraz Khan and Yashwashvi Jaiswal in the finals.
Manish who has played all the 3 formats at domestic level has been grinding hard at club level and performances like this are indeed satisfactory as well as eye opening in more than one ways than one. Parsee Gymkhana batting first scored 204/6 in 20 overs courtesy a brilliant 55 off 32 balls by Sachin Yadav followed by late blitz of Parag Khanapurkar (39 off 18 balls, 1 four, 4 sixes), Shams Mulani (20* off 8 balls) and Manish Rao (13* off 5 balls).
Chasing anything above 180 is difficult and it gets all the more difficult if it’s the finals of a marquee MCA Tournament. Parsee Gymkhana successfully defended their total restricting the powerful line up of Payyade SC to 117 all out in 16.2 overs. Siddhesh Lad was the top scorer for Payyade scoring 55 off 37 balls. From the bowlers, Parag Khanapurkar and Manish Rao were the star performers as both the experienced campaigners came up with 3 wickets each. Parag took 3/20 in 3 overs while Manish took 3/14 in 2.2 overs including two prized wickets of current IPL Players Sarfaraz Khan and Yashashvi Jaiswal.
Parsee Gymkhana won the match by 87 runs and became the crown Champions of T20 Talim Shield Tournament. Sachin’s half century certainly played a pivotal role, Sachin Yadav is now the top scorer of the tournament with 217 runs in 6 matches at an average of 43.16 while Manish Rao gave an all-round performance alongwith Parag Khanapurkar who now has 165 runs and 8 wickets in 6 games alongwith 16 sixes to his name in Talim Shield Tournament.
