Half century by Ranjit Marathe helps Sodexo beat HDIL in JD Sports Club T20 match

Sodexo locked horns against HDIL on 6th March at Young Maharashtra Ground, Mumbai in the on-going JD Sports Club T20 Tournament. Jitendra Deshmukh, who was a player first, then coach and umpire is the man behind this tournament. He has different feathers to his cricketing cap.

Batting first, Sodexo posted a formidable 185-7 in 20 overs, courtesy Ranjit Marathe’s (55 runs off 31 balls) fantastic half century. He timed his innings well and played some good cricketing shots. Marathe pierced through the gaps easily and hit the odd boundaries at will. Opening bat Vishal Pandurkar (37), no. 3 batsmen Shekar Tandel (23) and middle order bat Karan Bhujwal (22) chipped in with some useful contributions. Jitendra Kambli was the best bowler for HDIL as he grabbed 3-37 in his four overs.

In the second innings, HDIL was restricted to 114-9 in 20 overs. Opening bat Pravin Gaonkar scored a wonderful 43 off 35 balls, but his efforts went in vain as none of the other batsmen chipped in. Machindra (3-8) and Amit Sawant (2-12) bowled well in tandem to reduce HDIL to 114, thus winning the match for their team by 71 runs.

Ranjit Marathe (55 runs off 31 balls) was awarded with the Man of the Match for his fabulous knock.
