Bombay Gymkhana cruises to a win courtesy a hundred by opener Bhupen Lalwani in Police Shield’21

Bombay Gymkhana after being put to bat first at Police Gymkhana Ground, Marine Lines posted 256/6 in 45 overs. Opening the innings, Bhupen Lalwani went on to top score for his team scoring a solid 105 off 109 balls. Bhupen anchored the innings perfectly with his solid technique as he smashed 13 fours at a strike rate of almost 97. Bhupen has played 4 MCA matches so far this year in which he has scored 2 half centuries and a ton. He has also been amongst the highest run getters in India from last 2 years in BCCI’s U23 tournament and also played Ranji trophy last season. Pranav Kela at no.5 was the 2nd highest scorer with 60 runs off 65 balls. From the bowlers, left arm pace Amit Pande with 3 wickets was the pick of the lot.

Mumbai Police Gymkhana despite a sluggish opening start got back into the game thanks to a brave knock by Yash Chavan at no.5. Yash scored run a ball 74 keeping the scoreboard ticking despite wickets tumbling from the other end. Mumbai Police Gymkhana however fell short of 25 runs as they were all out for 231 runs 41.4 overs. Yashraj Malap with 4/43 in 6.3 overs bowled a crucial spell while the rest of the bowlers also supported well.

Result: Bombay Gymkhana won by 25 runs
