Behzaad Devadvala guides Cricket Club of India to a 7-wicket win over Chembur Gymkhana

On March 23, Cricket Club of India (CCI) locked horns against Chembur Gymkhana at the former’s den during the Gannon Dunkerley Invitational Championship 2019 (also known as GDCL). Batting first, Chembur Gymkhana was bundled out for a paltry 104 in 19. 1 overs. Suraj Lalwani top scored with 42 off 40 balls, however found no able allies. CCI bowled well throughout the innings, with Minesh Shah picking up 3-27 and Tejas Patani scalping 2-21 in their respective four overs.

In reply, CCI chased down the target quite comfortably in just 10.5 overs, winning the match by seven wickets. Behzaad Devadvala was the star performer of the chase as he smashed the Chembur Gymkhana bowlers all over the park. Behzaad scored a quickfire 48 off just 27 balls which included as many as 10 boundaries. Devadvala partnered with Tejas Patani (17 not out) after the loss of Rohan Punjani (17). In the end, the pair of Salil Purohit (18) and Patani saw CCI home. Chembur Gymkhana had the perfect start as they got rid of the opening batsman Raj Khandwala for a duck. Suraj Lalwani, Ronak Daftaria, and Mohit Hemrajani accounted for one wicket each.
