A debut in the Dr. H.D. Kanga Cricket League is always special, but for 14-year-old Shreyash Khilare, his first appearance in the 2026 B Division turned into a performance to remember.
Representing Parel Sporting Club against Yogi Sports Club, the young batter showed remarkable patience and maturity to score 84 runs off 179 balls, guiding his team to a strong total of 191/6 in 64 overs.
Shreyash Khilare innings was built on concentration and determination. He struck 5 fours and 3 sixes during his stay at the crease, putting together an impressive knock despite being just 14 years old. What makes the performance even more notable is that this was Shreyash’s debut match in the Kanga League.
At an age when many young cricketers are still finding their feet in competitive cricket, Shreyash showed the temperament to spend a long time at the crease and make a significant contribution for his side. His 84 also stands out as the highest score recorded by a 14-year-old in the Kanga League, making his debut even more memorable.
Parel Sporting Club’s total of 191/6 set up an interesting contest, with Yogi Sports Club responding with 180/6. With Yogi falling short of Parel’s first-innings total, the match ended in a draw with Parel Sporting Club taking the first-innings lead.
Behind Shreyash’s performance is the work he has been putting in at Sanjeevani Cricket Academy, where he trains under coach Satish Samant. The academy has been an important part of his development, helping him build the skills and temperament required to compete at a higher level.
For Shreyash, this wasn’t just another innings. It was his first chapter in Kanga League cricket, and an 84 on debut at 14 has certainly made it one worth remembering.
