Vinod Hammers 78 as Marshalls Royals Win A Close One
The ongoing IDFC First Bank Member’s Premier League for MCA RC BKC members produced a high-scoring affair between the Marshalls Royals and Spartans. After asking the Royals to bat first, Spartans found themselves in a spot of bother as they were hammered for 186 in 20 overs. Opener Vinod Lund enjoyed his time out as he faced 51 balls scoring 78. With 10 boundaries and 2 sixes, his innings helped his team reach the massive total. Quick contributions from Piyush Patel (25 off 14) and Vatsal Shah (21 off 8) provided the late finish.
Despite an expensive bowling sheet, Anand Thakkar managed to claim 3 wickets in his 4 overs at a decent economy rate of 7.25. Apart from him Gurvineet Singh claimed 2 wickets as well.
The Spartans were off to a flyer as Vijay Singh’s 46-ball 76 ignited a spirited run chase. Singh scored his runs at a staggering strike rate of 165 with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Sanjiv Zaveri (26 off 29) and Jeetinder Diwan (38 off 23) amassed quick fire innings as well to come closer to the target but timely wickets for the Royals made sure the Spartans weren’t getting away.
Arun Madhu claimed two late wickets along with captain Karan Sharma, giving the edge to the Royals and narrowly sealing the match by just 14 runs.
For his blistering knock, Vinod Lund was awarded the Man of the Match trophy.
