Bajaj and Jhaveri Give Scorchers The Win In MPL

The ongoing IDFC First Bank Member’s Premier League for MCA RC BKC members produces yet another stunning game of cricket as Hemant Tools Tornados took on Spottlight Social Scorchers. After winning the toss the Scorchers elected to chase.

Batting first, the Tornados lost two quick wickets. Sachin Deshpande walked in at number 3 and steadied the rocking ship but the Tornados were in trouble as they were down 6 wickets for just 78 runs. Deshpande formed a crucial partnership with wicket keeper Naved Shariff who contributed run-a-ball 26 with 2 boundaries. Ultimately they scored a total of 143 in 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Sachin was the major contributor by scoring an unbeaten 53 off 49 with 3 boundaries to his name.

It is fair to say the Scorchers did an excellent job with the ball by restricting the batsmen. Abhishek Jhaveri was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 3 wickets in his 4-over spell, conceding 33 runs. With a group-effort, Scorchers were the favorites to seal the game.

The Scorchers were off to a flying start as they had 60 runs on board by the 7th over. Opener Fardeen Malbarwala hammered 38 off 31 with 5 boundaries to his name, including a maximum. Despite the start, Tornados claimed 3 wickets in a heap. Niraj Bajaj played a secure knock of 30 to help his team reach the total closer. By the end, Tapan Bhatt was unbeaten on 17 as the Scorchers claimed victory by 5 wickets.

The Tornados’ bowlers didn’t make it easy for the batsman, especially Milin Parekh. Claiming 2 wickets in 4 overs at an economy rate of 5.25 certainly gave them a chance. Unfortunately, the runs were too less to defend.

For his all-round performance, Neeraj Bajaj was named as the Man of the Match.
