Delhi’s Mayank Rawat muscles a record 408* in a 40-overs match

Delhi’s Mayank Rawat created history on February 25 as he plundered a blistering 408 not out off just 139 balls in a 40-overs match against Delhi Titans during the City of Gold Cup tournament held in Noida. Playing for Sehgal Cricket Club, Rawat, 22, muscled a humungous score as he simply thrashed the opposition bowling attack. His entertaining knock was embellished with a whopping sum of 32 boundaries and 38 sixes.

Rawat told CricketGraph, “Usually I bat in the middle order bat, but that day, I was asked to open the batting. When I went in to bat, my intention was to play fearless cricket. I had never imagined in the wildest of my thoughts that someday I would score 400 runs in a one-day game. The wicket was good to bat on as the ball was nicely coming on to the bat. I simply enjoyed myself and this innings will forever be remembered by me.”

Riding on Rawat’s 408, Sehgal Cricket Club posted a gigantic total of 643-1 in 40 overs and went on to win the match by 547 runs.

At present, Mayank Rawat, who is a right handed middle order batter and a right arm off spinner plays for Delhi senior state team. He has already been a part of Delhi U-19 and Delhi U-25 teams in the past. In 2017, he represented India U-19 under the captainship of Prithvi Shaw against England U-19.
