Upadhyay’s 94 sees Maskati To a victory In The Bombay Junior Shield

Maskati CC took on Gay Cavaliers CC in the ongoing Bombay Junior Shield 2022-23. After winning the toss, Maskati elected to bat first at LIC, Cross Maidan. Gay Cavaliers pressured the Maskati batters in the initial stages of the game as 4 wickets were taken by the 12th over itself for just under 100 runs. It was Kesar Upadhyay’s rescue mission which helped his team reach to a fighting total. Upadhyay faced 89 balls and hammered invaluable 95 with 11 boundaries.  He also formed a crucial partnership with Akshay Bhowad with 43 off just 35 balls.  Ultimately, Maskati reached a decent total of 265 as they were bowled out in the 37th over itself. Roshan Gupta was the pick of the bowlers who picked up 3 wickets in just an over. 

Despite the early struggles, Maskati reached a fighting total. Chasing 266, Gay Cavaliers had a horrid start themselves, losing 4 wickets for 48 in the 16th over itself. Bhavishya Gaikwad contributed 42 for his team but due to a lack of support from the other end, Gay Cavaliers were wrapped up for just 108 runs. Niraj Shah’s exceptional spell of 4/19 in 8.5 overs saw the Maskati seal the game. He was well supported by Mustafa Shaikh as he claimed 3 wickets. 

As the game came to a close, Kesar Upadhyay was announced as the Man of the Match.
