Tejas Chavan 136* & Anurag 5/24 impress while Matunga registers a memorable draw in the Kalpesh Koli Tournament’19
Thane Centre after opting to bat first at the Dadkar Maidan scored a total of 275/10 in 75.3 overs. Despite the openers getting out early, it was Tejas Chavan hitting a fluent 136* off 199 balls (23 fours). Tejas got good support from Sahil Jadhav (49) with whom he stitched a crucial partnership too. The rest of the batters struggled but Tejas kept on building his innings helping his team reach a respectable total. Medium Pacer Aditya Giri with 4/50 in 10.3 overs was the pick of the bowlers.
Matunga Center who have a equally strong batting line up managed to reach only 215/9 in 88 overs thanks to a brilliant spell of spin bowling by Anurag Singh. The left arm spinner took crucial wickets at regular intervals coming up with an envious bowling spell of 5/24 in 24 overs with as many as 10 maidens! Opener Prince Singh (97) slogged it out alone batting for 222 deliveries while falling short of just 3 runs on what could have been a deserving ton.
Atharva Bhosale 7* off 52 balls and Ritesh Nalawade 1 off 31 balls fought it out and tried to bat as much as they could resulting in the end of the game’s play with a wicket in hand which resulted in a memorable draw for Matunga Team.
