Spinners Rohit Joshi & Abbas Karachiwala scalp 5wkts each to steer Podar School to a win in the Harris Shield Tournament ‘17
Played at the Cross Maidan Ground in Mumbai, two talented young teams namely Lilavati Bal Podar High school and St. Mary school clashed against each other where in Podar boys won the toss and elected to bowl first as the wicket had something for the bowlers.
Their decision to bowl first was spot on as St. Mary school were all out for just 71runs. Apart from their opener Chinmay, none of the batsman managed to score in two digits and a major reason for that damage was this talented spin duo of Abbas Karachiwala and Rohit Joshi. Right arm leg spinner Rohit and right arm off spinner Abbas bowled like a team of two together reminding us of the old kumble-harbhajan days! Rohit came up with excellent bowling figures of 5/21 in 5 overs while his mate Abbas took an impressive 5/31 in 12 overs. Both the bowlers hardly allowed the batsman to score runs freely while they kept on taking wickets at regular intervals.
Chasing a score of 72, it was a mere formality for the Podar Boys as they chased down the score quickly and won the match comfortably by 8wkts. It was a match dominated single handedly by these two young prodigies as they took 10wkts together which also became the highlight perfomance of the match. Cricketgraph congratulates both the bowlers and the whole team for their win whiles luck to all the boys for a great cricketing season ahead.
