Shaurya Rai blasts 176* in Mumbai Indians Junior U14 Inter School Cricket tournament
IES VN Sule English School Dadar took on Chatrabhuj Narsee School, Kandivali, during the Mumbai Indians Junior U14 Cricket Tournament on January 31. Chatrabhuj Narsee School won the toss and elected to field at Cross Maidan, Mumbai.
Put into bat first, IES posted a mammoth score of 432/1 in 38 overs. IES’ Prachit Amkar (157 not out) and captain Shaurya Rai (176 not out) took the opposition bowlers to the cleaners with their stroke-filled batting. While Amkar hammered 15 boundaries and seven sixes in his 111-ball innings, Rai smashed 26 boundaries and five sixes in his 91-ball blitzkrieg. On the other hand, Yetharth Jalan was the lone wicket-taker for Chatrabhuj Narsee School.
In response, Chatrabhuj Narsee School were skittled for a meagre 127 in 31.2 overs, and they lost the match by 305 runs. Captain Shlok Shetty (33) led the run chase from the front for Chatrabhuj Narsee School but failed to find able allies. Shlok Kadav was the most successful bowler for IES, with 13/2 in five overs.
Shaurya Rai clinched the player of the match award for his match-winning innings.
