The Dr. HD Kanga Cricket League is known for testing a batter’s patience, technique and temperament. With wickets that can often be unpredictable, scoring runs in Kanga cricket is never an easy task.

For Shaurya Kundal Patil, however, the 2026 Kanga League has provided an opportunity to showcase his attacking batting. Playing for Fort Vijay Cricket Club, Patil has produced two impressive knocks in September, scoring 210 runs across two innings.

79 Off 38 Balls Against Mazgaon Cricket Club

On 6 September 2026, Fort Vijay Cricket Club faced Mazgaon Cricket Club at DPZ, Matunga. Fort Vijay posted 173/5 declared in 22.5 overs, with Patil playing a crucial role at the top of the order. He scored 79 runs from just 38 balls, smashing 4 fours and 7 sixes. His aggressive innings helped Fort Vijay put up a strong total in a relatively short number of overs. It was an early indication of the kind of form Patil was carrying into the month.

131 Off 63: A Statement Knock in Kanga

Just two weeks later, on 20 September 2026, Patil produced an even bigger performance against United Friends Cricket Club at Young Zoroastrian. United Friends were dismissed for 96 runs in 38 overs in their first innings. Fort Vijay responded with 175/4, with Patil leading the charge. The young batter smashed 131 runs off only 63 balls, hitting 10 fours and 11 sixes. His innings was particularly eye-catching given the reputation of Kanga cricket, where changing and unpredictable wicket conditions can make batting challenging. Instead of allowing the conditions to dictate the tempo, Patil attacked the bowling and found the boundary consistently. United Friends later reached 70/6 in their second innings, with Fort Vijay Cricket Club taking the first-innings lead. Across his two September Kanga League innings, Patil has now scored 210 runs, with 14 fours and 18 sixes.

A consistent run-maker through the age-group circuit

Patli’s performances over the last few seasons show that his Kanga League hundred was not an isolated performance.

During the Kalpesh Govind Koli Memorial Summer Camp 2024, he scored 236 runs in two matches, including two centuries. His highest score in the tournament was 116.

He then represented the U16 Payyade Trophy Selection Tournament 2024, scoring 104 runs in two matches, including a score of 88.

In the U16 Vijay Merchant Trophy 2024-25, Patli scored 108 runs in three matches, with his highest score being an unbeaten 44.

He continued to contribute during the Kalpesh Govind Koli Memorial Summer Camp 2025, scoring 100 runs in two matches, including a half-century of 53.

His first Kanga League appearance in 2025 saw him score 36 runs in a single match, with a highest score of 28.

The following season brought another major step forward.

Harris Shield season to remember

The Harris Shield 2025-26 was one of Patli’s most productive campaigns. Across eight matches, he accumulated 850 runs, including five centuries and one half-century. That level of consistency across a full school cricket season gave another indication of his ability to convert starts into big scores.

He continued his progress into U19 cricket as well.

In the U19 Sharad Pawar Shield 2026, Patli scored 79 runs in one match, while in the U19 Naren Tamhane Summer Camp Trophy 2026, he added 147 runs in two matches, including a century.

From C Division to D Division cricket

Patli has also continued to gain experience in Mumbai club cricket. He was part of Koli Combined in the C Division in 2024, before moving to Mazgaon Cricket Club in the D Division in 2025.

His development has also included representing different centres at the age-group level. He played for the Kharghar Centre U16 in 2024, the Vashi Centre U16 in 2025, and progressed to the Vashi Centre U19 in 2026.

Now, his 131 off 63 balls in the Kanga League has added another eye-catching performance to that journey.

A knock that could become a defining moment

A 131-run innings is impressive in any form of cricket. Doing it in Kanga conditions, where batting can be demanding because of the nature of the wickets, makes Patli’s performance particularly notable. With 21 boundaries in total, including 11 sixes, Patli turned what could have been a difficult batting assignment into an attacking display. At a stage of his career where he is making the transition through U19 and senior club cricket, performances like this can provide valuable momentum.
