Saurabh’s 51 and Vaibhav’s 4/26 paves way for Yogi C.C to a finals win in the Govardhandas Shield Tournament
It was the all important finals between Yogi C.C & Kandivali Cricket Association at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana in Mumbai. Kandivali CC won the toss & elected to bat first with an aim of making it big in the 1st innings.
However, it turned out to be a low scoring encounter for KCA as they were bundled out for mere 133 runs in 19.5 overs. Not a single batsman was able to convert their starts into a substantial score which made them restrict to a low total. Flinn patel & Akhilesh Yadav were the top scorers for KCA as they chipped in with 25(16) & 26(16) respectively. It was a tight bowling perfomance as the Yogi CC bowlers perfectly did their job. Right arm pace bowler Vaibhav Lambe was terrific with the ball as he troubled the batsman with his line & length. The rest of the bowlers also bowlers also bowled well around him as they did not allow the batsman to free their hands & allow them to cross the 150 run mark.
Chasing 134, it proved to be a little low total to defend considering it was the crucial finals. Opener Omkar Ghule & skipper Saurabh singh meant business as they stitched a match wining partnership. While Omkar scored a gutsy 41, Saurabh scored a brilliant 50 off just 40balls (5fours) to steer his team towards the victory line in the finals.
Yogi Cricket Club won the finals of the Govardhandas Shield Tournament by 5wkts & 3 overs to spare while the highlights of the match were brilliant individual performances from Vaibhav, Omkar & skipper Saurabh.
