Payyade S.C. beat M.I.G Bandra to win Manohar Savant U-19 Trophy
Payyade S.C. Kandivali and M.I.G Bandra locked horns against each other on May 31 during the final match of U-19 Manohar Savant Trophy. Winning the toss and electing to field first, Payyade S.C. restricted M.I.G to a total of 192-7 in 45 overs. Sagar Chhabria top scored with an unbeaten 53 and found able allies in Sanket Kashte (36) and Aditya Srivastava (33). However, this total was not enough as Payyade S.C. cruised to an easy win, chasing the target in 34.4 overs, winning the match by four wickets.
Rahul Kesari was the best batsman for Payyade as he scored a fluent 45, with Manan Zatakia chipping in with 40, and skipper Karan Shah muscling a 35. Left arm spinner Omkar Ghule (Payyade), who picked up eight wickets in four matches was awarded the Best Bowler award of the tournament
“Our team was a well-balanced side with many of the players having played from Mumbai already. This was a good tournament as it saw many young talents exhibiting their skills and making a case for themselves in the Mumbai U-19 team”, averred an elated Iqbal Thakur, coach of Payyade S.C.
