Musheer Khan (10 wkts ) & Ayush Jethwa ( 110) star in Mumbai’s win in the U16 Vijay Merchant Trophy’19
Maharashtra side after opting to bat first were bundled out for 135 runs in 48 overs thanks to some tight bowling by the Mumbai bowlers. Spinner Musheer Khan was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/28 in 17 overs with 7 maidens. Apart from Musheer, Anurag Singh and Prince Badiani also chipped in with the ball taking 2 wkts each.
Mumbai team on the other side surpassed the 1st innings trail scoring 213/10 in 83.5 overs. Even though it was a shaky start for Mumbai, it was left hander Ayush Jethwa at no.5 rescuing his team with a match winning knock of 110 runs in 231 balls (17 fours, 1 six).
Maharashtra team in the 2nd innings suffered a batting collapse getting all out for just 64 runs. Musheer Khan ran through the Maharashtra batters coming up with a brilliant spell of spin bowling taking 6/23 in 17.1 overs (9 maidens). Ayush Jethwa contributed with the ball too taking 4/9 with 9 maidens in 12 overs as Mumbai went on to win the match by an innings and 14 runs.
Musheer has certainly made a point post his comeback while Ayush continues to rise up the ladders with consistent performances.
