Mumbai Police coast to six-wicket victory | Talim Shield’21
Mumbai: Mumbai Police Cricket Club made a good winning start recording a comfortable 6-wicket win against Regal Cricket Club in a first round league match of the MCA organized Padmakar Talim Shield (T20) Cricket Tournament 2020-2021 at the Cricket Club of India ground on Saturday.
Regal CC deciding to bat first could only manage a measly total of 65 all in 15.5 overs. Rushikesh Jadhav was the top-scorer with 13 runs, while Mumbai Police medium pacer Nadeem Shaikh picked up 3 wickets for 15 runs to restrict the opponents.
Mumbai Police chasing a low winning target struggled a bit and lost 4 wickets before reaching 67 to complete the win. Left-handed middle order batsman Anup Fulper (21 runs of 17 balls) and both the openers left-hander Shrideep Mangela (16 runs, 27 balls) and Sunil Patil (14 runs, 18 balls) ensured Mumbai Police coast to victory. Medium pacer Rugved More (2 for 24) was the most successful Regal CC bowler.
This is the first cricket tournament organized by MCA in Mumbai after the restrictions were relaxed following the Covid-19 second wave which hit the city and the entire country. Like last season this year too, the event will be a 20 overs format.
Brief scores: Regal CC 65 all out, 15.5 overs (Nadeem Shaikh 5 for 15) lost to Mumbai Police CC 67 for 4 wickets, 8 overs (Anup Fulper 21; Rugved More 2 for 24). Result: Mumbai Police won by 6 wickets.
