Left-arm Spinner Atish Walinjkar takes a 5wkt haul vs Ours CC in the Kanga League 2017
Left-arm spinners are always special as they are amongst the rare species in cricket but it’s good to see so many left-arm spinners progressing in this year’s kanga. One of the most impressive spinners this season has been Atish who has taken back to back 5wkt hauls since last 2weeks. A week before this, Atish had taken a 6wkt haul(6/22) and this time again he comes back with another 5wkt haul against Ours CC.
Played at the Sainath Sports Club, Ours CC won the toss and elected to bat first which is a rather brave and a surprising decision considering most of the teams have bowled first. However batting first, Ours CC were reduced to just 106/10 all out in 36 overs. Rahul Mishra and Nilesh Mhatre took 4wkts each. Both the left arm spinners proved to be very impressive as they successfully troubled the batsman.
In reply, Ours CC gave an excellent comeback with the ball as they restricted Sportsman CC Vasai to 95/all-out in 24.2overs. Left-arm spinner Atish Walinjkar continued his excellent form with the ball as he scalped another 5/33 in just 11.2 overs(4maidens). Atish continued his exceptional bowling which he left behind from his last match. Ours CC declared at 60/0 in 2nd innings while Vasai were 4/2 before the end of the game’s play. Ours CC won the match on 1st innings and it was certainly Atish’s bowling which remained the highlight perfomance of the match,
