Gautam Waghela hammers 213 & Varun Joijode claims 5-fer for Jahangir Pithwala XI in U25 Shalini Bhalekar trophy

Jahangir Pithawala XI locked horns against Lalchand Rajput XI in match number three of the U25 Shalini Bhalekar Trophy from December 13 to 15. Jahangir Pithawala XI won the toss and elected to bat.

Riding on Gautam Waghela’s stellar 213, Jahangir Pithawala XI posted a mammoth 480 in 118.3 overs. Waghela found able allies in Ayaz Khan (99) and Shashwat Jagtap (35), who made valuable contributions with the bat. On the other hand, Sylvester Dsouza was the pick of the bowlers for Lalchand Rajput XI as he scalped 79/4. In reply, Lalchand Rajput XI were bowled out for 193 in 48.4 overs. Varun Joijode claimed 41/5, and Khizar Dafedar struck with 32/3 for Jahangir Pithawala XI. Divyaansh Saxena (49), Siddhant Singh (46), and Rupen Chaurasia (43) got off to starts but failed to capitalise.

Leading by a massive margin of 287 runs, Jahangir Pithawala added another 189 in 54.3 overs. They set a target of 476 for Lalchand Rajput XI. Shashwat Jagtap (88) and Gautam Waghela (40) starred in the second innings for Jahangir Pithawala XI. On the other hand, Prashant Solanki was the most successful bowler for Lalchand Rajput XI with 83/6. In response, Lalchand Rajput XI scored 89/2 in 15 overs, thanks to Sheesh Shetty’s 38, before the match ended in a draw.
