Ekya’s sparkly 70 ensures a smooth win for Namo Bandra Blasters in the T20 Mumbai ‘19

Sobo Supersonics were off to a patchy start batting first at Wankhede with their scoreboard reading 71/4 at the start of the 11th over. However, the experienced Yogesh Takawale smashed some clean shots en-route his quick 32 while Japjeet did the anchoring role scoring 27 off 25 to lay a foundation for Sobo Supersonics to reach a respectable total of 151/8 in 20 overs. Quickster Nikhil Date with 3/29 in 4 overs was the pick of the bowlers while A Dhumal with 2/28 in 4 overs was the 2nd best of the lot.

Chasing 152, opener Eknath Kerkar who did not have the best of the beginnings to the tournament finally showed his batting capabilities hitting a sparkly 70 off 52 balls (9 fours). Always a busy man on the crease, there wasn’t a single moment he did not provide excitement to the viewers and especially the inside out shots to the spinners meant he signaled his arrival in style.  Skipper Iyer (31) and Prasad Pawar at no.5 (31 off 16) gave the finishing touch to the chase. Prasad Pawar in particular smashed some gorgeously powerful shots which were a treat to the eyes.

Namo Bandra Blasters win a crucial match by 4 wkts and 4 balls to spare while it was our very own Mumbai lad Ekya stealing the limelight with his classy knock.
