DY Patil T20 Cup’19- Some Interesting Matches and Performances as 4 teams reach the Coveted Semis

The Quarter finals witnessed some impressive performances and some star players coming to the fore, let’s take a quick look on who reached the Semi-finals.

Match 1-Reliance 1 vs BPCL

Reliance were least affected after being made to bat first at the DY Patil University Ground amassing 193/6 in 20 overs. Opener Nikhil Naik top scored with a aggressive 57 while India’s rising star Krunal Pandya played some signature shots en-route his 29 ball 48. Tajinder down the order played a quickfire knock of 38*taking only 17 balls.

Tight bowling by Reliance 1 bowlers ensured BPCL were all out for 145 runs as Reliance 1 won the match by 48 runs reaching into the semi finals of the tournament.

Match 2-DY Patil B vs CAG

Toss- DY Patil B opt to Bat First

DY Patil seems to be having a problem with their middle order in this tournament as once again they failed to capitalize on the start given by their openers. Opener Arjun Tendulkar looked good for his 35 while hard hitter Aman continued to play his natural game smashing a 26 ball 47 as DY Patil B reached a total of 170/8 in 20 overs.

CAG on the other hand were in deep trouble at one point with half of the team back into the pavilion at 59 runs but Ankit Kaushik gave a tough fight scoring 77* off mere 51 balls. CAG fell short of just 12 runs despite Ankit’s tough fight as DY Patil B won the Quarter Finals reaching the semis of the tournament.

Match 3-Mumbai Customs vs Canara Bank

Venue-DY Patil University 1

Toss- Canara Bank Opt to bowl first

Mumbai Customs after being made to bat first scored a healthy total of 183/8 in 20 overs. Sachin Wagh who has been impressive past few seasons continued to slay the bowlers hitting a stroke laden 87 off mere 44 balls which had 12 fours & 4 sixes. Gneshwar Naveen was simply stunning with the ball showing all his experience taking 5/24 in 4 overs.

Canara Bank in reply chased down the score successfully as star batsman Bharat Chipli who has been in excellent form continued to tear apart the bowlers in every corner of the ground hitting a brilliant 32 ball 84 laced with 10 fours and 6 biggies as Canara Bank won the match by 6 wkts and 3.2 overs to spare qualifying for the all important semi finals.

Match 4-DY Patil A vs Western Railway at DY Patil Stadium

Toss-DY Patil A elect to bat first

DY Patil A after electing to bat first scored 164/5 in 20 overs. DY had all their batsman chipping in with 20’s and 30’s as they reached a defendable total.

Western Railway in reply were all out for 107 runs as DY Patil A bowlers did an impressive job helping their team qualify for the all important semis.
