Dongre’s century propels New Hind to 2-wkt win in MCA U22 Tournament’22

Mumbai: Yogesh Dongre was in cracking form and smashed a 62-ball unbeaten century knock of 122 runs to steer New Hind SC to a fluent 2-wicket win over hosts Lord Northbrook CC in a Group-D match of the 2nd LNCC OMNI Global Invitational Under-22 Invitation Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organised by Lord Northbrook CC under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association, and played at the New Hind ground, Matunga.

Lord Northbrook preferring to bat were bowled out for 183 runs in 36.5 overs. Parshad Bodke 43 runs, Jay Jain 36, and Harshal Jadhav 33 runs contributed to the total while Vishwajit Jagdale took 4 wickets for 22 runs. In response, New Hind boosted by Dongre’s solid knock which contained 14 boundaries and seven sixes enabled them clinch the win.

In a Group-E match, Shivaji Park Youngster snatched a narrow 2-wicket win against Wellington SC at the Our Cricket Club ground, Virar. Sent in to bat, Wellington SC were bundled out for 182 runs in 34 overs. In reply, Shivaji Park Youngster pulled off a close win reaching 183 for 8 wickets in 39.5 overs. Deepak Verma top-scored with 73 runs and Ryan Castelino made 35 runs to secure the win.

Brief scores – Group-D: Lord Northbrook CC 183 all out, 36.5 overs (Parshad Bodke 43, Jay Jain 36, Harshal Jadhav 33; Vishwajit Jagdale 4/22) lost to New Hind SC 186 for 3 wickets, 20.1 overs (Yogesh Dongre 122 not out (62-balls, 14x4s, 7x6s). Result: New Hind SC won by 7 wickets.

Group-E: Wellington SC 182 all out, 34 overs (Saqib Mulani 31; Sanyam Jain 3/33) lost to Shivaji Park Youngster 183 for 8 wickets, 39.5 overs (Deepak Verma 73, Ryan Castelino 35). Result: Shivaji Park Youngsters won by 2 wickets.
