Cricket Bats redefined & re-imagined by the passionate team of Elevar Sports
In a country where cricket is a religion, and there are millions of cricket deities, these two gentlemen, who are passionate about cricket decided to traverse the untraversed in the field of cricket bat designing. Coming from diverse backgrounds, Mr. Aayush Tapuriah and Mr. Kunal Joshi, always had one thing in common and that was their intimate love affair with cricket. Having known each other for 11 years, both of them always wanted to do something that will benefit not only the sport but also the players playing the game.
“To start off, we decided to understand the pain points of cricketers. We gave bats with different shapes of handle to college players, club players, as well as random players playing at Oval ground in Mumbai. Some handles were oval-like, whereas some were square-like, round etc. People open to change accepted these differently designed bats gleefully”, explained Mr. Kunal. Through their research that lasted for good six months, Mr. Joshi and Mr. Tapuriah, came to certain conclusions. Comprehending these pain points, they endeavoured to make bat in such a way that will take care of the identified problems.
“During our research we studied the physics of designing a bat handle and also compared the conventional cricket bat handle with tennis rackets, baseball bats etc., which are good absorbers of shock”, averred Mr. Aayush. With the help of a cricket bat manufacturing expert panoply of cricket bat handle moulds were developed and the ones that perfectly suited the Elevar design were selected. To give respite to the millions of Guly cricketers, Elevar has come up with specially designed bats. The bat handle is like a handle of a sword or a knife, which can be played with comfortably and can generate enough power to hit big shots.
In India, where you find gully cricketers in almost every nook and corner, such an Elevar bat is likely to be welcomed in the different Gullies of the country. In addition to this, for the players who play with gloves in hands, Kashmir and English willows are designed in such a way that the handle minimizes the shock generated by the impact of ball on bat and also provides good feedback to the batsman. These innovative bats are manufactured in Meerut and Jalandhar, and are sold online on the Elevar website. A product guy from Elevar team visits these manufacturing units and selects clefts based on various parameters like moisture, texture, grains, age of the wood and other closely guarded parameters to ensure that best top grade willows are made available under Elevar brand. Going forward, Elevar could introduce variations based on palm sizes and other customizations.
“The feeling of holding a cricket bat in your hands is magical, and we, through Elevar bats would want to make the batting experience memorable for the players”, exclaimed Mr. Tapuriah. To sum up the revolutionary work undertaken in the cricket bat handle space, we can say Elevar offers Ergonomic handles, superior grip technology, and aerodynamic bat profile.
