Centurion Rugved Chaudhari helps Kotak Mahindra Bank triumph over Indusind Bank
Riding on a masterclass century from Rugved Chaudhari, Kotak Mahindra Bank posted a mammoth 185-4 in 20 overs against Indusind Bank on Sunday at MIG Bandra, Mumbai during the Plate Final Match for 7th-8th position in the Automotive Cricket League T20. Batting first, Kotak amassed a daunting total, thanks to a solid opening partnership of 104 runs in 11.1 overs between Sarvesh (45) and Rugved (104 not out). Rugved scored at a brisk pace, striking at a rate of 162.50. His innings was laced with as many as 15 boundaries and a six. Indusind had an ordinary day with the ball and could not restrict the free flowing batting of Kotak. Milind Bholanekar, Sumit Jaiswal, Guddu Shah, and Sabu picked up one wicket each.
In reply, Indusind was bundled out for a paltry 77 in 12.3 overs, losing the match by a huge margin of 108 runs. Apart from Jai Gaba (26) and Satish Singh (25), none of the Indusind batsmen looked in shape. In no time, Kotak closed the Indusind innings, courtesy a fantastic bowling and fielding effort. Sagar Khatri and Mayur Ghag bowled well in tandem accounting for three wickets each. Pankaj Yadav, Vinayak, and Anant managed to scalp one victim each. The Plate Final Match turned out to be a lopsided affair, with Kotak Mahindra Bank securing the 7th position and Indusind Bank settling with the 8th position.
Rugved Chaudhari was awarded as the Man of the Match for his rollicking performance with the bat. Rugved stated, “The wicket was good to bat on. The early morning start helped the bowlers a bit and I was determined to see off the first couple of overs. Once I got my eye in, I started playing my strokes and yielded good returns. I was timing the ball well and I enjoyed facing the medium pacers. Hitting a century in a winning cause for the team is always a great feeling. Though we did not have the best of the outings in the tournament, I am happy that we could end the competition on a winning note”.
