Ananth Venkatraman Heroics Help Bombay Knight Riders Reach The JFSC Classic League Finals

The Bombay Knight Riders (BKR) played the Fervent XI in the JFSC Classic League 2022-23 which was a do or die game for them. After the winning the all-important toss, BKR elected to set a target, this proved to be a crucial move in the context of the game. BKR’s opener Ananth Venkatraman stepped up by scoring an invaluable 72 off just 43 deliveries. Despite wickets falling on the other end, Ananth continued to build partnerships with every batter. A 46 run 2nd wicket stand with Kunal Sabnis and 51 runs for the 3rd wicket stand with Rajiv Kalra saw the BKR reach 190 in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets. Ananth’s flying innings comprised for 9 boundaries and 4 sixes.

It was safe to assume the bowling charts of Fervent XI would be expensive, however Mahesh Krishnamoorthy was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 2 wickets in his 4-over spell conceding 28 runs in a high scoring innings.

With a mountain of a target to chase, Fervent XI came out to bat but soon found themselves in trouble as they lost wickets on regular intervals. With half of the team dismissed for just 67 by the 11th over, it was looking good for the BKR. By not letting any batsmen set and score, BKR dismissed Fervent for just 139 in the finals over of the game. Prateek Srivastava bowled a magical spell of 3/8 in 4 overs at an economy rate of just 2 per over. Arun and Sagar picked up 2 wickets. With all bowlers playing a crucial role, BKR won the game by 51 runs.

With this victory, the Bombay Knight Riders qualified for the finals. Ananth Venkatraman was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his blistering knock.
