Fort Vijay opting to bat first at Cross Maidan were bundled out for 126 runs thanks to a match winning bowling spell by Manish Rao. Manish Rao with his medium pacers ran through the opposition’s batting line up bagging a stunning 7 wkts for 27 runs in 13 overs with 4 maidens. Manish was spot on with the ball giving the batsman a hard time. The only shining spot in Fort Vijay’s team was the lonely fight given by left handed Pratik Prabhu scoring 85 runs at no.4 out of his team total of 126 runs.
Parsee Gymkhana chased down the score with ease with opener Vinayak Mane scoring an unbeaten 58* off 82 balls.
Parsee Gymkhana won the match by 8 wkts while it was surely Manish grabbing the limelight. For the uninitiated, Manish Rao has played for Mumbai in the U22s and U25. He has also represented Mumbai in the Ranji trophy for the Season 13-14
Manish later on shifted to railways because of the Central Railway job where he has played for railways in the Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Since the last two years, he has been playing for railways team in the Ranji Trophy with an excellent debut against Hyderabad scoring 35* and 85* in the second innings alongwith 3 wickets in the first innings. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy he bagged 8 wickets and 111 runs this season. Manish conveys thanks to RNS Larsons for proving excellent stuffs to perform better.
