A Strong Bowling and Batting Performance helps Mumbai U19 win over Baroda in the Cooch Behar Trophy ‘18
Mumbai after electing to field first at SRT Ground Kandivali (MCA) restricted Baroda to mere 139 runs in their 1st innings thanks to some really tight bowling by Atharva Poojary (4/38), Arjun Tendulkar (3/42) and Shreyansh Bogar (3/42). The bowlers were spot on and more importantly Mumbai had the right blend of bowling attack in one spinner, one left arm medium pacer and one right arm pacer doing the job.
Mumbai in reply made a healthy total of 321 with three half centuries by Gautam Waghela (67), Manal Kawle (57) and Vaibhav Kalamkar (59). Baroda were in no mood to allow Mumbai to win easily as they made a virtual comeback by scoring 352 runs in their 2nd innings where in Praful Devkate bowled an impressive spell for Mumbai taking 5/58 in 21 overs.
A target of 172 runs for 2nd innings was a mere formality for the Mumbai team as the dangerous Pragnesh took it in his hands to finish the game by scoring a quick 122* off 108 balls laced with 15 fours and 5 sixes and continuing his consistency with the bat.
Mumbai team won the match by 9 wkts and it was definitely a collective team performance which did the job.
