A Cricketing Life: The Rise of Coach Anees Jamal

With a passion for cricket that began at a young age, Anees Jamal has carved a remarkable journey as both a left-handed opening batsman and a wicketkeeper, and now, as a highly respected cricket coach. Born on 26th September 1989, Anees brings not only years of playing experience but also certified coaching expertise to his role as Head Coach at Manohar Joshi School Ground, Mumbai.

Early Cricketing Journey

Anees Jamal began his cricketing career under the mentorship of Coach Kalpesh Koli. His leadership qualities surfaced early as he captained M.D. College’s cricket team for two years. His club cricket experience includes stints with renowned teams like Souvenir CC and Maharashtra Young Cricketers.

He played at multiple age-group levels within the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA):

U-12 MCA Matunga Centre

U-16 MCA Chunabhatti Centre – served as captain and played alongside top talents like Dhaval Kulkarni, Nikhil Mandale, and Surya Kumar Yadav.

U-19 MCA RCF Centre – again sharing the pitch with stars like Surya Kumar Yadav and Sidharth Prasad.

His playing achievements also include:

Captaining Maharshi Dayanand College.

Featuring in the A Division Purshottam Shield League for Dadar Parsee Zorastrian at just 14.

Competing in C and D Division cricket for Jolly Cricketers and Maharashtra Young Cricketers.

Currently playing in the Kanga League and for Jolly Cricketer “C” Division.

Served as Assistant Coach under Sunil Patil at Cheda Nagar for four years.

Worked with Cricket India Academy, including a summer camp at Karnataka Coorg Public High School.

Collaborated with the NGO Muktangan, coaching underprivileged youth with coaches Mussavir Khote and Santosh Saxena for two years.

Participated in coaching assignments under Shri. Kiran Salgaonkar at various summer camps.

Held the position of Head Coach for 11 months at Kohinoor Cricket Academy.

Appointed as Head Coach for the Bhiwandi Cricket Association.

Worked with Marcos & Quay, a UK-based sports management company, for a year.
