Don Bosco Matunga enter the Harris Shield semi-finals
On Tuesday, Don Bosco Matunga faced Anjuman Islam school (Urdu medium) in the quarter final of Harris Shield. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Anjuman Islam scored 265 runs, courtesy the two half centuries scored by Mahtab Ahmad (61) and Aman Singh (58). Rugved Kulkarni (4-89) and Hrithik Ankush (3-79) were the pick of the bowlers for Don Bosco. Coming in to bat, Don Bosco posted 440 runs on board, thanks to the twin centuries of Rohit Desai (154) and Akshat Jain (115). This was Akshat’s third century on the trot. Don Bosco amassed a sizable lead of 175 runs. Mahtab Ahmad bowled exceptionally well to pick up 6-102 in 28.5 overs.
In the second innings, Anjuman Islam managed to score just a little over their first innings total. They put up on board 268 runs, setting a target of 93 runs for Don Bosco to chase. Rugved Kulkarni again came in handy, picking up 3-80, thus accounting for 7 wickets in the match. At the end of day, Don Bosco scored 49 runs, losing two wickets.
The match ended in a draw, with Don Bosco grabbing the first innings lead. Don Bosco Matunga of Elite Group has qualified for the semi-final of Harris Shield.
