Arya Chowkidar’s 66 powers New Hind to a win in 2nd LNCC Omni Global Invitation U22 Tournament’22

On May 5, New Hind locked horns against My Sports Club in Mumbai during the 2nd LNCC Omni Global Invitation U22 Tournament. New Hind won the toss and elected to bat.

Batting first, New Hind put together 7-223 in 40 overs. After New Hind got off to a horrid start, Arya Chowkidar steadied the ship with his knock of 66 not out from 54 balls. New Hind lost their top three wickets cheaply for just 25 runs. While the team was looking for a saviour, Chowkidar rose to the occasion and bailed his team out. With five boundaries and two sixes, the middle order batter top scored for New Hind. On the other hand, My Sports Club’s Govind Yadav was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 2-29 in seven overs.

In reply, My Sports Club fought hard but were bowled out for 141 in 28.4 overs to lose the match by 82 runs. Omkar Ghule (52) was the lone warrior in the fight as he kept losing partners at regular intervals. On the other hand, New Hind’s bowlers had a good outing as they stymied the run chase. Yash Dubey wreaked havoc with the ball as he claimed 4-48 in eight overs.

New Hind beat My Sports Club by 82 runs in the 2nd LNCC Omni Global Invitation U22 Tournament, thanks to major contributions from Arya Chowkidar and Yash Dubey.

Cricket is a sport that Juili picked up right from her childhood days. Her journey from playing with the boys in the compound walls to practising under the able aegis of Jonty Rhodes has been a spectacular one.
She was a part of Mumbai Women’s U-19 and U-23 probables during her four-year stint at the MCA. As a middle order bat and a part time medium pace bowler, she also represented Mumbai University at All-India University Women’s Cricket for two years.

In the quest of further education, she discontinued with the sport. Currently she is pursuing her Ph.D in Finance from IIT Bombay’s School of Management.
