Bhupen Lalwani’s Century goes in Vain as R.A.Podar Lose in MCA Inter-College Tournament’22

On May 10, Gurunanak Khalsa College took on R.A.Podar College in Mumbai during an inter-college cricket tournament match. Khalsa College won the toss and elected to field first.

Put in to bat, Podar College posted a respectable score of 6-216 in 40 overs. Bhupen Lalwani starred with the bat as he mustered 112 runs off 128 balls, including a dozen boundaries. Lalwani, who opened the batting, scored more than half of the team’s total runs. On the other hand, Khalsa College’s Sachin Rao was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 3-45 in eight overs.

In response, Khalsa College completed the formalities in 38.2 overs to win the match by three wickets. The opening pair of Shaun Rodrigues (46) and Tasyam Chavan (42) led the run chase.  For Podar College, Arya Ikhe was the standout bowler as he claimed 3-43 in eight overs.

Bhupen Lalwani was the top performer in the match, however his team went down by three wickets. Lalwani struck a delectable century and picked up 1-38 in six overs against Khalsa College during the inter-college tournament match. Prior to this, he registered three half-centuries on the trot. Playing for Mumbai, he scored 72 runs and 88 runs in the semi-final and final of C.K.Nayudu Trophy respectively. In addition to these, he recorded 75 runs during a Purushottam Shield match.
