Mangesh, Aniket and Vasu script Cricket Club of Dombivli’s victory against Maersk C.C.
Mangesh Surve blasted a 40-ball 64 to lead Cricket Club of Dombivli (CCD) to an 155-run win against Maersk C.C. in their Friendship Trophy 2019 T20 match at the Asahi Glass Cricket Ground Taloja, Navi Mumbai. Fifties from three of the top five batsmen set up CCD’s total of 222 for 5 after they chose to bat first.
CCD ran up 222 for 5 on the back of a 80-run opening stand between Mangesh Surve and Sandesh, and a 105-run 4th wicket stand between Aniket and Shrikant. Then it was all Vasu Mhatre, the right-arm off spinner picking up a 3 for 14 in three overs, haul to help bowl Maersk C.C. out for 67 in 16 overs. A bad start quickly turned ugly for Maersk. Eight Maersk batsmen dismissed for single digit scores. Statistics had its share of fun as it lashed out at the Maersk side with a set of almost discourteous facts.
Player of the Match, right-handed batsman, Mangesh Surve’s today-best knock of 64 off 40 balls, including ten fours, a single six and strike rate of 160, also picking up 2 for 5 in two overs, including a maiden. With a set of alarming statistics staring them in the face, it’s back to the drawing board for the Maersk following a dismal performance against the Cricket Club of Dombivli (CCD).
