Swapnil smashes an impressive ton while Shubham & Shashank steer DY Patil to the finals of the Young Comrade Shield Tournament ‘18
Played at the DY Patil Groud in Nerul, DY Patil team took on MIG CC for the all important semi finals of the Young Comrade Tournament. Both the teams have performed exceptionally well so far and an intense competition was bound to happen to seal the finals spot.
MIG CC batting first did a commendable job notching up 300/10 in 69.2 overs. Right handed opener Swapnil Pradhan who has been playing really well past one year continued to impress as he went on to score a solid 101 off 148 balls at the top of the order. Swapnil smashed 12fours while the reliable middle order batsman Gaurav Jathar scored a gritty 69 off 82balls at no.5. From the bowlers, all-rounders Arun Yadav and Shashank Singh bagged 3wkts each being really impressive with the ball bowling in the right areas.
Even though a total of 300 is decent enough to defend but not if it’s against the powerful and famed batting line up of DY Patil who have scored in excess of 350-400runs in almost every game in this tournament. As always, the reliable and experienced pair of openers Shoaib Shaikh and Subramaniam D gave a solid 95run opening stand while two of the most prolific run getters in Mumbai cricket Shashank Singh(64*) and Shubham Ranjane(54) smashed match winning half centuries. Both the boys as always looked in sublime touch taking away the pressure and eventually helping DY Patil win the semi finals.
It was as always an impressive win for DY Patil with Shashank’s all-round show and overall good batting by the DY Patil boys. Swapnil was also impressive with his valiant ton. Shashank who recently won one of the ‘Best all-rounders award’ in Mumbai Cricket by NATARAJ PENS & Cricketgraph is staying true to his title!
