Jr. Sehwag makes his mark: Scores a solid 51 and scalps 2wkts in the 2nd Master Taksham (Under-12) Cricket Tournament
While his father is termed as the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’, the modern day Viv Richards, the most aggressive batsman of this generation & many more tags, it was this time the turn of baby Sehwag to make his mark his footsteps into the field of cricket. Representing Sehwag Academy, it was Aryavir’s day as he displayed a promising all-round perfomance.
Played at the MRV School sector 13 & organized by Bimla Devi Dobal Cricket Center, it was a tight encounter between two promising teams namely Sehwag Academy & Udaybhan Academy. Sehwag Academy batted first and really did a good job with the bat as they notched up 207/9 in 30 overs which is a good score to defend on any part of the day. Right-handed Aryavir Sehwag gave us a déjà vu of his daddy as he scored a confident and aggressive 51 at the top of the order followed by a good half century by Lucky Mishra. Arnav Singh also chipped in with a 38 to take their team total to cross the 200 run mark. From the bowling side it was Arnav Khatarpal who was the most effective of the lot coming up with bowling figures of 4/17.
Chasing 208 at more than 6 runs per over is always a difficult task but still Udaybhan academy gave a tough fight as they managed to reach as much as 198/10 in 30 overs falling short of just 9 runs. Talented Ishan Chabra scored a fantastic 81 but the efforts went in vain while Krish Bhasin & Aryavir Sehwag were the pick of the bowlers taking 2/35 & 2/32 respectively.
