Mohit Tanwar & Umar Khan steers Rizvi to a win the finals in the Late Bhaskar Trophy Tournament
It was the all-important finals of the Bhaskar Trophy Under 12 Boys Cricket Tournament 2017 between Rizvi Sports Club & Ours Cricket Club at the Police Gymkhana Ground, Mumbai. Rizvi who won the toss elected to bat first since they have a strong batting line up.
Rizvi could have scored more considering their strong batting line-up but still only managed to reach a defendable 185/6 in 35 overs. Right-handed Mohit Tanwar lived up to the expectations at such a crucial juncture of the tournament & smashed his 3rd half century of the tournament. Mohit Tanwar scored a solid 70 (6 fours and good running between the wickets) at the top of the order which saved his team from getting out for a low total. He was also nicely supported by Umar Khan who scored an unbeaten 51* which played an equally crucial role in their innings. Both these batsman looked confident & were hardly deterred by the pressure of the finals. The OCC (Ours cricket club) did a fairly good job with the ball & succeeded in containing them to a low total.
Chasing 186 is not the toughest but Rizvi is a string team which has an equally good bowling line-up. Rizvi bowlers did a fantastic job with the ball & bundled out the opposition for just 78 runs in 25.3 overs. Ayush Vartak was the only one with a respectable score of 38. The rizvi spinners did a great job with the ball as the off-break trio of Varun, Umar Khan & Mohit Tanwar picket up 5 wkts together with 2 wkts each for Umar and Varun.
Rizvi won the finals by 107 runs and lift the trophy of the late Bhaskar Tournament. Mohit was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his all-round perfomance as well as man of the series for scoring 256 runs in the tournament (94, 65, DNB, 27 &70) & also picking up 8 wkts in the series. The young lad was given a voucher worth 2k along with 1000 cash prize for his man of the match award.
This kid has a long way to go & is certainly made for big things in cricket. Cricketgraph congratulates Mohit, Umar & the whole team for their great performance and wishes them to keep playing good cricket.
