Wasim Jaffer & Ajay Mishra star in Khar Gymkhana’s 197-run win in Young Comrade Shield
Khar Gymkhana handed a crushing 197-run defeat to Fort Vijay Cricket Club during the Young Comrade Shield. The match was played on January 7 and 8. Khar Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bat.
Khar Gymkhana piled up a mammoth total of 384/8 in 70 overs, thanks to Wasim Jaffer, who packed a punch with a delightful 170. Jaffer took the opposition bowlers to the cleaners with his breathtaking shots. Riday Khandke (70) and Mehboob Shaikh (55 not out) gave him company. Khandke and Shaikh struck half-centuries to steer their team to a comprehensive score. On the other hand, Fort Vijay Cricket Club’s Abul Kalam was the most successful bowler, with 84/3.
In reply, Fort Vijay Cricket Club were bowled out for a paltry 187 in 54.4 overs and lost the match by 197 runs. Siddhant Rai fought hard for his 57 but could not take his team closer to Khar Gymkhana’s total. On the other hand, Khar Gymkhana bowlers had a great outing as they efficiently ran through the Fort Vijay Cricket Club’s batting line-up. Ajay Mishra and Aatif Shaikh were the two wicket-takers. While Mishra scalped 82/6, Shaikh claimed 43/4.
