Vedant Gadia hits a swashbuckling double hundred while Ayush Jethwa gives an all-round show in the U/14 CPCC Tournament ‘17
Played at the Payyade Sports Club at Kandiavli in Mumbai, it was a match between two promising teams namely Payyade SC and PDTSA where in PDTSA won the toss and elected to bowl first in order to restrict the opposition to a low total.
However, little did they knew on the storm which was about to come as Payyade SC scored a mammoth 541/6d in 89overs. Left-handed opener Vedant Gadia took everyone’s breath away as he scored one of the most entertaining and exquisite knocks of the season smashing 220runs off just 174balls. Young Vedant’s aggressive batting approach in tests gave us a déjà vu of other left-handers like Jayasuriya, Matthew Hayden & Justin Langer who would bat the same way at the international stage when they were at their peak. Vedant belived in counter attack as he smashed 26fours and 6sixes en-route his double ton while his opening partner Malhar Mane also scored a brisk 86 off 123balls. That was not all from the Payyade boys as the entire top order was impressive. Ayush jethwa at no.3 scored an aggressive 94 off just 92balls falling just 6runs short of a yet another wonderful ton from his bat while right handed Ayush Vartak at no.4 impressed one and all as he scored an unbeaten 104* off 108balls. Ayush kept the scorecard ticking till the end as he smashed 14fours and a six in his 108ball stay at the crease.
In reply, PDTSA scored 52/9 in 22.3overs before they were given a follow on where they were again bundled put for just 82runs in 26.3 overs in the 2nd innings. All-rounder Ayush Jethwa took a combined 6wkts in the match followed by 5wkts in the match for Akshat Pathak. Payyade SC displayed their might as they won by a big margin of an innings and 407runs while Vedant, Ayush Vartak, Ayush Jethwa and Akshat were the standout performers in the match. Cricketgraph congratulates all Payyade for their big win while wishes all the boys luck for a great season ahead.
