The power of Patels : Priyank Patel & Sunny Patel steer Intelenet to a semi-final win in the Thane Vaibhav Tournament
Semi-final matches are always exciting to watch and such was the game between Intelenet Global & BMC Krida Bhavan at Bharat CC Maidan, Shivaji Park in Dadar. BMC won the toss and elected to field first with an aim of restricting them to a low score in a big ground like Bharat CC Ground Shivaji Park Dadar, Mumbai.
However, Intelenet had a string of big time players who did the job for their side. Opener Rupesh was out for 6 but their star batsman Priyank (who has also played Ranji for Gujarat) remained unbeaten till the end of the innings. Priyank scored an unbeaten 110* off just 110 balls (6 fours) and played the anchors role to perfection. He was also given great support by Kalpesh Sawant who scored a brisk 57 off 53 balls (6 fours). Both the players stitched a match winning partnership of almost 130 runs which laid the foundation of their innings. But the Patel power was not completed yet as no.4 batsman Sunny Patel (Played Ranji Trophy for Gujarat in 2008) came in & scored a blitzkrieg 65* coming off just 25 balls(6 fours) & remained unbeaten with Priyank before they reached a team total of 245/2 in 35 overs. While Priyank’s knock was all class and sublime, Kalpesh played the supporting role & Sunny came in as a special ‘heroic’ cameo (like in films) & did his job wonderfully well.
Chasing 246, BMC succumbed to the tight bowling of Intelenet & managed to reach only 165/8 in 35 overs. All the bowlers did a good job right from leg spinner Ajit Gopalakrishnan taking 3/24(7) followed by Sunny Patel who also scalped 2 wickets (2/25 in 5 overs) with his leg spin making it a complete all-round performance. Maninder Singh also bowled well taking 2/29 in his 4 overs.
Intelenet won the semi-final match by 80 runs and the ‘Patel Boys’ dominated the match outright to help their team win the match. Priyank & Sunny were collectively adjudged ‘man of the match’ & Cricketgraph wishes both the players to keep shining. Cricketgraph also wishes the whole team to go & win the finals too.
