Combacks in any sport are always special as it shows the passion and intensity of a player to play. It shows a player’s affection towards the particular sport. Some of the biggest names in Cricket have struggled with injuries, loss of form but it was their will power which made them make a comeback and make a name for themselves. We all are aware about Ganguly and Nehra’s careers which were the perfect example of comebacks. Right arm medium pacer Udayan Shukla who went through 2 ligament tears and was out for almost a year finally made a comeback in kanga and looks impressive. Played at the Shivaji Park in Dadar, it was a match between Jolly Cricketers and Young Comrade CC where in Jolly Cricketers won the toss and elected to bat first since the rains are over and the wicket may have tilted towards the batsman.
Batting first, Jolly Cricketers were all out for just 145runs in 53overs where in Nikhil Khare was the top scorer with a valiant 41. Slow left arm spinner Shamit Shetty who has been bowling well throughout the year once again bowled well taking 4/52 followed by 3wkts for Samarth. In reply, Young Comrade CC were restricted to 73/8 as the bowlers gave a tough time and especially the comeback man Udayan Shukla who was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/29. Udayan came into his elements and bowled in the right areas and this his 5th wicket in just his 2nd Kanga match.
Young Comrade batted for 33 overs till the end of the game’s play and luckily survived. It was a great match where both the teams did a good job but it was Udayan Shukla who made aN impressive comeback to cricket. Cricketgraph certainly wishes him all the health and fitness and a great cricketing season ahead.!
