Talented cricketers Shivam Gharat (83) & Jay Sangani (56) steer E Mark to a easy win in the Times Cricket Shield ‘18

E Merck Sports Club and DTDC took on each other for a crucial clash off at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana where in E Merck Sports Club won the toss and elected to field first with an aim of restricting DTDC to a low total and chase it down successfully.

DTDC who were made to bat first managed to score 183/9 in 45overs which is surely not the best of the scores to defend. E Merck’s decision to bowl first seemed to be accurate as the bowlers really did a great job of bowling tight. Akash and Sumit top scored with 37 & 48 respectively but the rest of the batsman failed to convert their 10’s and 20’s.  From the bowling side, Varun P was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/29 while Vaibhav and Sagar chipping in with 2wkts each.

Chasing 184, E Merck did felt some early jitters with their openers falling out early but Shivam Gharat at no.3 ensured that the chase was taken care of. Shivam scored a match winning and a stroke filled 83 which brought his team back into the game. Shivam also got great support from no.4 batsman Jay Sangani who also scored a solid 56 to seal the chase for their team. Both the batsman looked really promising as they smashed some really good cricketing shots while also did good running between the wickets.

E Merck did receive a tough fight from the DTDC bowlers as they did not allow them to win easily.  Eventually E Merck boys won the match by 3wkts where in Shivam and Jay were surely the standout performers.
