Venue: National CC, Mumbai | Match Scorecard | Tournament Details
A combined team performance enabled Star TV to win the third title of the season – The Dreamz Champions Trophy Regular Plate A title by defeating Societe Generale by 6 wickets.
Star Tv were lucky with the coin and opted to field first after winning the toss. Throughout the innings they were able to contain the batsmen with a very tight line and length. This is evident from the fact that Societe openers Pratik and Nitin scored well below run a ball and were unable to cut loose.
It was Viraj’s run a ball 37 that enabled Societe Generale to cross the 100 run mark. Openers Pratik scored 15 from 32 balls while Nitin managed 19 off 26. There were 3 run outs in the innings as well. But not a single batsman could increase the tempo of the innings as they ended for mere 109 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Gaurav, Pritesh and Nitin from Star managed a wicket each for their team.
In reply, Star were off to a worst possible start as by the 7th ball, both the openers Rajendra and Mandar were back in the pavilion. Then Jatin (29) and Pritesh (15) did some repair work and crossed the 50 mark for their team. At the score of 53, both lost their wickets leaving the game in balance and a slight chance for Societe Generale to return into the match.
But next two batsmen Rajesh and Randhir had other plans as they displayed some sensible batting to take their team over the line with a brilliant 57 run partnership. Rajesh remained not out on 23 while Randhir made an unbeaten 29. Four bowlers from Societe Generale managed a wicket each.
