Star Player Suryakumar Yadav silently signals his worth with a consistent season so far in Mumbai Cricket ‘18

Suryakumar is one such player who needs no introduction. A naturally gifted stroke-maker who also has the ability to mould and adjust according to the team’s situation. Suryakumar has surely been a silent warhorse of KKR for almost 5years now. Surya who has played 44matches so far for KKR at a very impressive strike rate of 134.00 is genuinely more than a hard hitting batsman as if given more opportunities to bat up the order, he can really prove to be a very valuable asset.

Since he joined KKR in 2014, Surya has always chipped in with the bat coming at crunch situations and has made all the difference for his team since his debut at the age of 23 in 2012 in IPL. Today he is 28 and still the KKR vice-captain is improving leaps and bounds with the bat everyday and keeps on piling runs in domestic cricket to shun all the critics down.

Even looking at his recent performances in the Inter-state One Day Tournament and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he certainly looks all set for a great season if given the right chances at the right time. Surya’s blazing 85ball 134*in the Inter State One Day Tournament which was fuelled with 11fours and 7sixes against Madhya Pradesh was a silent testimony of his abilities with the bat. The way he attacked the bowlers at a strike rate of 150+ was  a clear indicator of what could come in the coming season.  It was also on the back of his superlative 134* which helped Mumbai win the match by 74runs. Surya’s gritty 71 against Goa in the same tournament was also quite impressive.

Even in the recently held quarter finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy a few days ago, Suryakumar Yadav’s hard-fought 69 which came off 88balls at no.5 when Mumbai were struggling at 47/3 at one point was a clear testimony of how he can change his game from an aggressive hitter to an innings ressurector according to the situation of the game.

Surya is looking really good  this season as far as his form and fitness is concerned. He has been chipping in with runs when needed while he is also hitting the ball really nice. Let’s hope we get to see more of Surya this season in KKR!
