Sanket Kankonkar hits a match winning 25ball 56* to steer Deutsche Bank to a win in the Masters Cup ‘17

Played at the Chereshwar Club at Trombay, it was a match between two strong teams namely Vinayak Services XI and Deutsche Bank Group where in Vinayak Marine Services won the toss and elected to bat first hoping that the pitch may have support for the batsman.

They did a good job batting first as they scored 165/9 in 20 overs. Even though the top order failed but V Chavan at no.5 scored one of the better innings of the tournament scoring 87 off mere 43balls. Playing at a strike rate of 200+, Chavan smashed 10 fours and 4sixes to anchor his team to a very respectable score of 160+ in a t20 match. Sagar Chemburkar was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/26 in 4overs while the rest of the bowlers also chipped in with a wicket or two.

Deutsche Bank however did a better job with the bat as they successfully chased down the score in 19.1. Just like the opposition, their top order gave starts but could not convert it into a big score but it was Sanket Kankonkar at no.6 who played a match winning knock of 56* off just 25deliveries. That knock literally changed the script of the game which helped his team win the match by 5wkts. It was a good match where both the teams fought hard where in Sanket was declared ‘man of the match.
